Class Title:  Three Ring Circus Pendant

A ‘Wonderfully Loud’ Pendant in 5 Colourways

A Zoom workshop with Lorna Dobberstein (Polymer Clay) and Rose Rushbrooke (Bead Embroidery and Weaving)

Indulge your carnival instincts and wear a tapering pendant with hidden mathematical formulae. Learn how to mix different colours in polymer clay. In your kit you will find 4 different clay lumps but these lumps magically become legion. Just follow the recipe in your instructions…CMYK is the basis for mixing shades.

Once you’ve created your clay cabochons and beads, you will then switch your brain over to the totally different skill of bead embroidery.

What:  In all, you will learn how to:
  a. mix clay to create the colours in your colourway
  b. make clay cabochons and clay beads
  c. bead embroider each cabochon into a wonderful component
  d. incorporate the components into a threesome of gorgeousness, all stitched
together and finished off with a treble bead dangle. Whew!

Hang the whole kit and caboodle on a neck cord, hang the neck cord around – yup, you’ve guessed it, your neck, and circus out! As an added bonus, you will find enough supplies to make a pair of earrings to go with your necklace.

When:  The class goes over 2 days: Saturday, September 11th, 2021: 10am (PST) to 12 noon (PST) with an hour's break, and then continues from 1pm (PST) to 3pm (PST). The same timing on Sunday, September 12th, 2021.

Day 1 you learn to make the cabochons and beads. Day 2 we'll put all the pieces together with bead embroidery. Prepare yourself with lots of water and snacks!

Fee:  $80.00 (for both days)
Book your place in the class here, then click on the picture:

Once we receive your sign up, you'll receive a link to choose your colourway and purchase your kit.

Kit fee: $70.00 (for both days) plus shipping.  The kit includes all instructions as well as everything you need to make the polymer clay cabochons and clay beads, plus beads and materials to embroider and stitch them together. (If you wish to attend the class but do not need the kit, please let us know and we will make the instructions available to you for download in pdf format. The cost of the instructions is $10.00. If we find certain colours go quickly we will endeavor to put more together as some of the choices are limited.)

Experience Level:  You do not need prior experience of polymer clay work but it is useful to have previous knowledge of bead embroidery or classic sewing embroidery, as you will be using stitches such as couching and blanket stitch. You will also need to understand basic peyote stitch. If you are a little unsure about circular peyote stitch, I recommend you check out this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/U3DHG98x4gk.

Supplies and Preparation:
The kit contains all the components to make the cabochons and beads, along with the items to incorporate them into a bead embroidered necklace. You will also need the following supplies:

For the polymer clay:
A toaster or conventional oven
Scissors
Needle nosed pliers (round nosed if you have them)
Scotch tape

For the bead embroidery:
Sharp, pointed scissors
Bead mat

This is Zoom so make sure your work area has adequate lighting and a receptive and questioning mind.
